Introduction
I've
been building websites for 9 years now, having started off with using
Dreamweaver and then Kompozer building sites from scratch,
progressing to using ready-made templates with Webs, Weebly and
110MB. In the past 2 years, I've been using both WordPress dot org,
and WordPress dot com, which I think offer the best website-building
service. Many of the WordPress themes are free to use, and there is a
vast array of plugins / addons, such as contact forms, which are easy
to add and use.
As
regards WordPress.com, this is offers you a free blogsite, with free themes
& free website-hosting, and is aimed at non-commercial users,
i.e. for personal use only. You don't have access to all the plugins
… I have used one of the contact form plugins temporarily.
You can
pay WP for a domain name of your choice, or you can leave your blogsite with its name ending as "wordpress.com". I have set
up a WP photo-blog using the Nitisha theme, which I think looks
great. Click HERE to see this. A blogsite is an online diary … you
can write posts as often as you like, and invite other bloggers to
comment on your site (and vice-versa).
By the way, all websites in the UK must now comply with EU Cookie law ... have a look HERE if you're creating a new website or if you own one already.
